Reverse Geometry Corneal GP Fit for Post Radial Keratotomy
By Dr. Kelly Voltz, OD, FAAO
Case History
A 67‐year‐old Caucasian male with history of radial keratotomy forty years prior was referred for contact lens fitting of both eyes.
The patient’s ocular history was significant for a hyperopic shift following RK of both eyes and fluctuations in vision throughout the day. After undergoing cataract extraction and intraocular lens placement of both eyes via scleral tunnel, the patient found no relief in his symptoms.
Upon slit lamp examination, the patient’s right cornea exhibited 24 radial incisions and 2 astigmatic keratotomy incisions. The left cornea exhibited 32 radial incisions and 2 astigmatic keratotomy incisions. Both central corneas had central sub‐epithelial scarring.
CL Fitting
The patient was fit in Valley Contax’s Reverse geometry corneal GP design. Visual acuity improved from 20/40 OD, 20/30 OS to 20/25 OD, 20/20 OS.
Final Lens Design | BC | Power | Dia | 2nd Curve | 3rd Curve | Material | Tint | |
